On November 17, 2008 the Institute of International Education (IIE) released the new data from Open Doors 2008: Report on International Educational Exchange. Open Doors 2008 shows that the total international student enrollment in U.S. higher education increased by 7% this year, to an all time high of 623,805. Study abroad by U.S. students is up by 8%, to a record high total of 241,791 in the 2006/07 academic year, and students are continuing to go to more diverse destinations.
